Your Step-by-Step Guide for Learning Technologies 2024

1 minutes

Are you ready for Learning Technologies 2024?

On Wednesday and Thursday 17-18th of April, we are heading to the London ExCel for #LearningTechnologies2024. This year features over 200 exhibitors, countless free seminars, and the chance to network with industry pioneers at the forefront of learning innovation. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or new to the scene, we’ve got your back with our ultimate guide to help you make the most out of this landmark event.

Step1: Start with a plan

With more than 200 exhibitors to explore, having a game plan is crucial. Scan through the exhibitor list beforehand and pinpoint the innovations and solutions that align with your L&D goals. Trust us, a little prep goes a long way in navigating this extensive event!

Setting objectives

Begin by asking yourself what you aim to achieve by attending this event. At Guider, we advocate for setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals to all our mentors and mentees. This helps to clarify your intentions and will ensure you can measure your success post-event. Whether you are looking to solve a current challenge, find new innovative tools or simply be there for the fun and free food, whichever it is, it’s good to come prepared – and hungry!

Step 2: Choose the right seminars

Year after year at Learning Technologies, we’ve loved laughed and learned so much in its free seminars. This year the hottest topic is AI in learning, as well as sustainability learning and skills gaps, alongside numerous emerging technologies offering their insights. Our top tip? Pick your must-attend seminars early and build your day around them. Give yourself enough breaks to ensure you take them all in – and give yourself time to network!

Step 3: Check out our seminar (obviously)

We wouldn’t want you to miss our very own seminar –

AI is not the (only) answer: unlock the power of your workforce with mentoring,” on Wednesday, 17 April, from 10:15 – 10:45, in Seminar Theatre 6.

Discover the transformative power of mentoring and peer-to-peer learning with insights from Mike Pryke, Director of Revenue, and Hattie Pursell, Content Marketing Manager at Guider. We’ll be covering the irreplaceable power of human connection and how to facilitate it in your workplace.

Step 4: Identify your key learnings

Aim to walk away with at least three new insights each day. This could range from discovering innovative tools, gaining fresh perspectives on familiar challenges, or enriching your network by connecting with fellow professionals. Keep an open mind, and be curious and, if things start to get repetitive, ask more questions – queue the next step…

Step 5:  Preparing questions

While it’s beneficial to have specific questions ready for the seminars or exhibitions that intrigue you, don’t stress if you’re not sure what to ask yet. Engaging with content and conversations throughout the day will naturally spark questions. Note which exhibitors or seminars pique your interest and highlight those areas to ask probing questions – this is where you can get tailored answers that meet your needs.

Some questions we’ve heard before:

  • How would your platform or service specifically benefit a company like ours?
  • What resources or support do you offer for mastering your tool/service?
  • Can you discuss how your technology has adapted to meet changing learning needs?
  • What customisation options are available to tailor your solution to our specific requirements?
  • How easily can your platform integrate with existing learning ecosystems and tech stacks?
  • What future updates do you want to see on your platform?

Don’t be afraid to ask hard questions or, better yet, ask for proof!

Step 6: Networking

Set a goal for the number of new contacts you’d like to make. Whether it’s fellow attendees, speakers, or exhibitors, expanding your professional network is a valuable outcome of any event. These will become valuable sources of information and inspiration for your L&D processes going forward!

Step 7: Have time to reflect

After engaging in a whirlwind of networking, seminars, and exhibitions, carving out time for reflection is vital. Reflection after the event on what you’ve learned and the people you’ve met is crucial for translating your event experience into actionable strategies. Consider how these insights can integrate into your yearly plans and initiatives, offering a chance to refresh, refocus and realign your initiatives to really create change.

Step 8: Join us at stand J35

At stand J35, you’ll find team Guider. We’d love to see you and hear about your learnings – if our guide has been helpful or not! While we’re not giving away all our secrets just yet, let’s just say that our stand might have a delightful surprise in store for you!
